A predecessor is an activity whose start or finish controls start or finish of another activity. And a successor is an activity whose start or finish is controlled by start or finish of another activity. In process of determining relationships between activities, predecessor and successor activities are identified first and then they are given a relationship type, for example Finish to Start.
How To Assign Successors?
Add Successors to Activity select the activity and right Click on the activity then Go to the Assign option and Select the Successors.

When You Select A Successor A new Screen is open on a window that is given Below in my case i want to assign Activity ID A1020 as a Successor of A1010. Before Assigning A Successor yo have not seen any relationship on a graph when you add a Successor or Predecessor an arrow is show on a graph that is indicate the Relationship between activities.

On this screen I select ID A1020 and select the Plus Sign that mention in a Circle .
A Successor is Added and the Right Side of Screen An Arrow Represent the Relationship Between the Software ins and maintenance .

Add the Predecessor to activity yo can follow same step as it is when you add successor.
